Privacy Policy

I run a small, but mighty sales training company, not a data company. This page explains, in plain language, what information I collect when you visit my site or buy something from me, why I collect it, and what you can ask me to do with it.
If anything here is unclear, email me. I would rather answer the question than have you wondering.

What I collect
When you buy a course or a resource: your name, your email address, and your phone number if you choose to give it. My checkout also records what you bought, when, and the currency you paid in.
When you join my email list: your name and email address, plus which form or page you signed up from.
When you use the site: standard web information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visited, and how you arrived. This comes from cookies and similar tracking technology.
What I never see: your credit card number. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored on my systems.
Why I collect it
- To give you the course or resource you paid for, and to give you access to it later.
- To process your payment and send your receipt.
- To answer you when you contact me.
- To send you emails you asked for, and to stop sending them when you ask me to stop.
- To understand which pages and lessons people actually use, so I can make them better.
- To run and measure advertising, so I am not spending money showing ads to people who do not want them.
I do not sell your information. I do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone for their own marketing.
Who else touches it
To run this business I use a small set of service providers. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Kajabi hosts my website, courses and checkout.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) sends my emails and manages my list.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives website activity through the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API so I can measure and target advertising. See the advertising section below.
- Google Analytics gives me anonymous traffic and page data.
- Zoom hosts my live sessions when you register for one.
These companies store data on servers outside Canada, mostly in the United States, and their own privacy policies and local laws apply to that data.
Cookies and advertising
My site uses cookies and similar technology, including the Meta Pixel, Meta's Conversions API and Google Analytics. These record actions like viewing a page, starting a checkout, and completing a purchase. That is how I know whether an ad worked, and how I avoid showing an ad for a course to somebody who already owns it.
Some of this information is matched by Meta to a Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. You can control what Meta does with it in your Meta account under Ad Preferences, and you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies will not stop you from buying or using anything you have bought.
If you are on my list, every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off. I will still send you the emails that come with something you bought, like your receipt and your course access, because those are part of the purchase rather than marketing.
How long I keep it
I keep purchase records for as long as I need them for tax and accounting purposes, which in Canada means at least six years. I keep email subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Analytics data expires on the schedules set by Google and Meta.
Keeping it safe
My site and checkout run over encrypted connections. Access to customer records is limited to me and anyone helping me run the business, and only where they need it. No system is perfectly secure, but I take this seriously and I work with established providers who do too.
Your choices
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask me to:
- tell you what information I hold about you,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- delete your information, subject to records I am legally required to keep,
- stop emailing you, or withdraw a consent you gave earlier.
Email SalesThoughts@TheCuriousSalesperson.com and I will respond within 30 days. I may ask you to confirm your identity first, so I am not handing your information to somebody else.
If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This is sales training for working professionals. My site and courses are not directed at anyone under 18, and I do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I collect or use information, I will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced by email to my list.
